Take the detour! Porcupine Gorge, Queensland

Along the Australian Dinosaur Trail, just 60km’s north of Hughenden, Queensland is this stunning ‘350 million years in the making’ gorge, secluded swimming hole and our very own Ancient sandstone Pyramid!

Along the Australian Dinosaur Trail, just 60km’s north of Hughenden, Queensland is this stunning ‘350 million years in the making’ gorge, secluded swimming hole and our very own Ancient sandstone Pyramid!!  The 2.4km return walk in to the gorge is strenuous; but with a bag of jelly beans we were able to coax (aka bribe, bad parenting, regretful sugar high) the kids through the walk!

Queensland National Parks camping is available right on the top escarpment, which has basic facilities and days of no phone reception (breath a big sigh of ahhhh !).  Wish we had the drone at that time, those pictures would have been incredible!

Put this on the list for your trip along the Australian Dinosaur trail in Outback Queensland!  We visited in the dry season, but can you imagine the water that would rage through here!

Who’s visited? Who’s going? And anyone seen it flowing?
